SLAPTON LEY
NATIONAL NATURE RESERVE
A SITE OF SPECIAL SCIENTIFIC INTEREST

Much of Slapton Ley, the largest expanse of fresh water in the South West of England, lies in the parish of Stokenham. Separated from the sea waters of Start Bay by only a narrow ridge of shingle, the Ley is home to a variety of rare birds and provides a resting place for many migratory species.
