THE REV. PAM KEMP OPENS STOKENHAM PARISH FETE

At Stokenham House on a glorious afternoon the new vicar of the recently formed Start Bay Benefice the Rev. Pam Kemp officially opened the 2011 Stokenham Parish Fete. All the usual stalls plus a number of attractions including children's races, karate, talent show and an 'Antiques Road' show drew a very good attendance. A message to this website from visitors from Shropshire staying at the Stokenham Caravan Site summed up the event as "We have spent a most enjoyable afternoon at the parish fete - and I feel I really must congratulate you all on this wonderful event! "

At an open meeting on 4th May the recent Stokenham Residents Action Group transformed into a new residents association to represent the village.
44 ATTEND 2011 ANNUAL PARISH MEETING

With the local elections on the 5th May only a few weeks away a number of parishioners were present at the annual parish meeting to learn from existing councillors what being a councillor involved. Other items on the agenda were written and verbal reports including the chairman's report (see), District Councillors report and reports from Beat Manager Pc. Steve Mutton and the Coleridge Community Bus.

PROFESSOR WILLIAMS RETURNS TO STOKENHAM
An audience of 70 people attended the parish hall to hear Professor Howard
Williams report on the results of the archaeological field work carried out in
Stokenham during the summers of 2005 and 2007.
The presentation arranged by Stokenham Community History Group in conjunction
with the 50th Anniversary Celebrations of the AONB covered work in relation to
the graveyards at Stokenham and Slapton in addition to the finds uncovered in
the Manor Field to the East of St. Michael's Church.
