NOTES FROM THE MEETING OF COUNCIL HELD
ON
THURSDAY 4TH DECEMBER 2008
AT 7.30 PM IN STOKENHAM PARISH HALL
In Council:
Declarations of Interest, Open Forum, Planning and Planning Matters, Parish Precept 2009-10, Code Of Conduct Consultation, Footpath Diversion, Questionnaire, Reports, Finance and Points of Information.The following were some of the items then considered and where appropriate the courses of action taken.
Declarations of Interest:
Open Forum: Sgt. Corkhill and Pc Mutton attended and were pleased to be able to report no incidents.
Minutes: The minutes of the meeting held on the 20th November 2008 were approved and signed by the chairman. (These minutes are available on the Parish Website www.stokenham-pc.gov.uk.)
Planning & Planning Matters: It was noted that the proposal to alter the Boat House Cottage at Torcross had been withdrawn. Council objected to the proposal to convert an open barn to a studio at Cousens Farm Chillington. There was no objection to the proposed extension and alteration to Combehay, Chillington. It was noted that the following applications had been granted: Erection of eight dwellings at Old Grist Mill House, Chillington, extension and alterations at 10, Cotmore Close, Chillington and installation of new antenna on existing mast at Widdicome Farm. It was reported that detailed plans for erection of dwelling next to Taffrail at Hallsands had been approved.
Precept 2009-2010: The Parish Precept was agreed to be a 4.87% increase on 2008-09
Code of Conduct: Recommendations were made in relation to a consultation document on a proposed Code of Conduct for members and employees.
Footpath Diversion: It was agreed that footpath 10 at Beesands should be diverted to be shown as existing and not as currently recorded.
Questionnaire: A draft of a questionnaire to all households to accompany the Parish and District Councillor’s Newsletters inviting update suggestions for the Parish Plan was agreed.
Reports: Received included a report from Councillor Hutchings on the official opening by The Environment Agency of the extension to the sea wall at Beesands. The clerk tabled a progress report on the Devolved Services Pilot which seemed to be going well.
District Councillor’s Report: Cllr. Baverstock reporting on district council business announced that there would be no increase in car parking charges 2009-10 or any increase on the district council element of the council tax for the coming financial year.
County Councillor’s Report: Councillor Brazil gave a brief report on County Council matters.
Finance: Balances tabled and cheques signed.
Points of Information:
Publications received were tabled and
distributed as appropriate.
