CHILLINGTON VILLAGE NEWS SEE LATEST NEWS FROM CHILLINGTON COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION CHILLINGTON SUMMER FAIR 2007 At the Chillington Summer Fair on Saturday 23rd August we enjoyed one of the hottest days of the year. Colourful bunting fluttered in the breeze around busy stalls and gazebos shaded visitors who sat enjoying the BBQ, cream teas or a drink from the bar (thanks to Jed of the Open Arms for this). The many attractions included the Greasy Pole, Tin Can Alley, the Electric Light Show and appearances from Pepper the Owl and the No Limits baton twirlers. There were many stalls, including the popular cake and book stalls, and the event was ably compered by Dave Crunchy Carrot Gritton. Thank you to everyone who helped on the day and to all who came along to support us.
OTHER CHILLINGTON NEWS The Development and Planning Control Committee of South hams District Council at their reconvened meeting on Wednesday 18th July approved outline planning applications for both the Helmer's and Allcroft Developments. The former for 44 houses including a barn conversion of which 22 are intended to be affordable together with site enhancement and community hall and other contribution. The Allcroft Development proposes the demolition of an existing property and the erecting of 14 houses behind Penn Cottage with access through Shindle park. These approvals were given in spite of considerable objection by the parish council on behalf of many residents.
