Inter-Church Worship Group
Following a decision by the Anglican and Methodist Churches to hold discussions and work towards unification called "Now Is The Time" a meeting was held in the area on 14 January 1997. It was agreed at this meeting to locally strive towards this goal.
Very little happened until September 1997 when it was agreed after much prayer that the four local Christian Churches/Organisations would form an Inter-Church Worship Group.
The four ministries involved are The Anglican and The Methodist Churches, the South Hams Christian Fellowship and The Congregational Torcross Chapel.
Its main purpose is to foster and encourage a closer working and worshipping relationship between these Christian organisations.
Its endeavours to date have been rewarded by very successful United Services held on a rota in each of the churches. One notably event held in 1999 was a beach service held at Torcross beach when over 200 people were in attendance.
United Services are held when there is a fifth Sunday in a month plus some specials, they are well advertised locally.
People who interested can 'just turn up' and enjoy the service and fellowship.
